If you happened to catch HTC’s press event, Vodafone was present to announce they would be the first to introduce the HTC Desire in early April. Since then, we’ve learned that “early April” actually means April 1st and that the Vodafone HTC Desire’s will be available for free on a £35 per month contract. But Vodafone isn’t the only one lining up to offer the HTC Desire to their customers.
3 in the UK has also announced that they have plans to release the HTC Desire in Spring of 2010. The date is a bit vague, but that could be due to the fact that 3 plans on adding Skype, Windows Messenger, and their own email client to the handset. 3 is making it a habit of giving their customers the same communications experience across all handset platforms that they support.

T-Mobile UK has always been a huge supported of HTC, so it’s only natural that they launch the HTC Desire in the Spring as well. Not content with being the second carrier to introduce the Desire in the UK market, T-Mobile has pushed up their release date of the handset to March 26th which gives them nearly a full week advantage over Vodafone and even beat HTC’s expected shipping date.
The HTC Desire is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Android handsets of 2010. From what we can tell, it’s also one of the most talked about phones at this year’s Mobile World Congress. I’m hoping that all this hype will translate into demand for the U.S. market as well. It would be nice to see U.S. carriers bring over the HTC Desire without needing to muck up the form factor of software.
